Our Home Building Solution is based on Australian conditions and when compared to some SAP implementations for Home Builders in Australia, we believe it provides a more flexible and scaleable solution. It is being developed in consultation with members in the home building industry to identify the common processes and also the differences.
If you are a Home Building Company and were to implement SAP Software you can gain tremendous benefits. SAP integrates your quotations, sales contracts, where the user selects the required options for the house. On saving the order SAP automatically creates the Bill of Materials to build th house. In cases where the selections made are part of your standard list of variations then nothing needs to be done to the Bill of Materials. However if there are additional custom requirements like additional site costs or changes to windows, doors, or adding a new room and so on, then SAP provides the tools to integrate custom changes either semi automatically, or completely manually and arrive at the final Bill of Materials. This Bill of Materials can be costed and reviewed, and changes requested later by the customer can be applied.
Once the contract is finalised then the Bill of Materials is transferred to a project. Here all the procurement processes are scheduled according to the project timeline, and the project is processed through the various milestones that align to the progress payment schedule. Actuals can be compared to planned costs to monitor where cost overruns may be incurred.
All through the process the financial accounts are automatically updated as each progress payment is received, as every payment is made to Suppliers and Sub Contractors to provide an accurate, timely financial status at any point in time.
